The rich diversity of the UR-OTO -- which is a Confederation of many Rites -- can induce culture shock in those familiar with only a single O.T.O. Tradition. I'm primarily a Crowleyan, and soon after my induction into the Areopagus, I struck up a conversation with a follower of Grant's Tradition. Heehee, to all my remarks he responded, "Crowley is not all there is to the O.T.O.!" (And I thought I was making some good points too...)
Here's an update on the public activities of the Experimental Axis:
A big part of our public activities involve the Internet. And our next public project will be to make Initiation and Chartering available to seekers through the Internet. We've been doing something like this already, but now we're launching it on a bigger scale. We've moved into position where we can accept a larger number of students.
In Baphomet Lodge our emphasis has always been on DOING THE WORK. Borrowing a page from the A.'.A.'. , I've developed an E-mail course that utilizes the method of self-Initiation to confer the Full Degrees of UR-OTO. Students must complete assignments and return them to an instructor, and are required to keep a Magical diary and periodically submit it for evaluation. It takes a minimum of one year to complete the work of each Degree, and upon achieving the III°, the student is eligible to be Chartered as a Lodge Master.
It would be wonderful if this led to the establishment of many (or even hundreds) of physical Lodges that perform the Gnostic Mass, Initiation, etc. I would love to see every town have a UR-OTO Lodge. I'm ready to see the New Aeon established.
This project should especially appeal to individuals that want to participate in the Tradition, but haven't yet felt a need to join a physical Lodge, or who have been disillusioned with traditional Lodges. Too many old-style Lodge systems are ruled over by a "King"; in UR-OTO we've entered the New Aeon and Amicitia is the watchword. A.M.I.C.I.T.I.A.
